Eating healthy foods will help you to boost your
immune system, but what if it's the foods themselves
making you sick? Food borne illness can cause food
poisoning and a variety of other more dangerous diseases,
so they are a real threat to our bodies. Luckily,
there are a number of things you can do to prevent
food borne illnesses. Following safety tips when handling,
preparing, and storing food is very important.
Cross contamination is a huge culprit when you are concerned
with preventing illness and your food. Cross contamination
is basically the moving of bacteria from one dish to another.
This happens when you use dirty cutting boards, don't wash
your dishes properly, and use the same utensil for all of
your foods. If you use, for example, a knife to cut raw
chicken and then use that same knife to cut your food
after it has been cooked, some of the bacteria from the
raw chicken has probably remained on the knife, which
can make you very ill. Make sure that you are using a clean
work space and clean tools whenever you cook.
Along with using a clean environment, you should make sure
that you are washing you hands regularly. Every time you
touch raw foods, you should use disinfecting hand soap and
hot water to make sure that no bacteria remains on your hands.
Making sure that your food is safe is one of the most important
parts of healthy eating, so don't overlook this step the next
time you prepare a meal.

Ideas for Holiday Gel Candles
Holiday gel candles are very popular and you can find
gel candles for each season and holiday like Christmas,
Halloween, Easter and others. These gel candles can be
used as decor, for the dinner table and for gifts. They
make wonderful presents for any person and if you want
to create a more special gift, you can include apple
gel candles in a basket of goodies for Christmas using
the green and red color scheme. You can add orange fruit
gel candles into a gift basket for Halloween and use them
to light up your porch for children that come to trick or
treat.
Gel candles are something that everyone loves to get as
a gift and giving it is just as much fun. These candles
are made from a special gel that gives it a translucent
quality and makes it possible to add little items into
the candle. They are usually made in glass votives but
can also come in various shapes and forms like lighthouse
gel candles and fall leaf gel candles.

Making Money from Home
Who likes to wake up on a cold, dreary Monday morning,
rush through the breakfast and drive in the mad traffic
just to reach our office to perform a job that we hate
and to report to a stupid boss? Many of us subject
ourselves to all these on daily basis because we have
financial commitments and we need enough money to pay
our bills, maintain our family and to sustain ourselves
month after month. It is not by preference we stick to
this painful style of life; if there is an option 90% of
people would love to change roles.
Don't be deceived by the advertisements that you see
online and start dreaming about lazing around or doing
very little and going on vacations three times a year.
It does not work that way; yes it is true that you can
make money online and it is also true that you can get
rich by starting an online business. But remember that
you will not get rich overnight or in a week's time. If
you work hard with diligence and be focused on whatever
you are doing, you can certainly reap the fruits of your
hard work and get rich over a period of time. The extra
benefits that you enjoy here is that you are the boss
and you decide how you would like to make money. You are
free to work whenever you choose or take a day-off in the
middle of the week without having to answer anyone and make
up for the lost time during weekends - you have all the
freedom that you need.
A legitimate online business that you can consider is writing
for the internet. If you have decent writing skills and if you
can write without any grammatical errors then you have lot of
scope for earning money through your home employment. Today
many companies are looking for freelance writers to maintain
their blogs and to generate fresh content to improve their
website's performance in the search engines. There are also
many companies that look for article writers who can write on
a variety of topics. It is not necessary that you should have
published a book and be an established writer. If you have
creative writing skills, then writing for the internet is one
of the best ways of making money from home.

Child Obesity
Obesity: it's every parent's worst nightmare. They
cringe at the suggestion that perhaps they have done
something wrong as guardians. Did they feed her too much?
Not pay attention to the amount of video games that
were played? These questions play a major role in today's
worries, as childhood obesity is sweeping the nation.
Fortunately, there are ways to get your child back on
track and decrease the chance of obesity. It isn’t too
late to intervene.
Limit your child’s “couch potato” intake. Allow your
child to watch one hour of television or one hour of
video game playing. This will still give them freedom
to enjoy, but will limit their habit. Are they complaining
of boredom? There are plenty of other alternatives -
sign them up for an active hobby. Perhaps horseback riding,
swimming or even basketball. As long as they are getting
exercise, you are decreasing the chances of obesity.
2. While most video games have a bad reputation, there
are some that actually increase exercise. Nintendo Wii
has developed Wii Sports to help fight obesity. From
tennis to boxing and even bowling, these games are
intended to get you off your couch and start moving.
Have your child focus on these and they may just want
to join a real-life tennis or baseball team.
3. Forget the junk food. While most of us are too busy
to cook elaborate meals, this is no excuse not to find
a healthy option. Make sure your child has a balanced diet
- filled with fruit, vegetables, dairy and whole grains.
If you are on the run, try cooking whole wheat pasta the
night before. How about Lean Cuisine meals or a bag of
fruit to snack on? If you teach your child the right way
to eat early on, chances are they will continue eating well.
As a result, diabetes and obesity could stay at bay.
Despite the fact that we all live fast paced lives, we can
still take the time to change the path our children are on.
Turn off the TV and focus on what will motivate your child
the most. In many cases, the Wii Sports video game does the
trick. It may not be as beneficial as a jog or bike ride,
but it is pointing them in the right direction. After all,
anything that prevents obesity is a positive step forward.
Baby steps are just the beginning.

Stop Dog Barking
Stopping dog barking seems to be a very common concern
for dog owners. To stop dog barking you can apply very
simple techniques. Here is a quick outline of some of
the strategies you can use.
To stop a dog from barking deprives him from a very
natural response. Dog barking collars are not always
recommended as they use chemicals.
Determine the reason why your dog is barking. In most cases,
your dog is barking for attention and it is absolutely
essential to understand that attribute: your dog is
accustomed to getting attention without having to deserve it.
You need to send a clear message to your dog: barking
for attention does not work, barking does not trigger
any reaction from you and most importantly barking does
not result in any yelling from your part.
If, on the contrary, you ignore his reaction you will
quickly notice that the barking will stop. You need to
rapidly make clear that your dog's barking does not have
any effect on you and you do not respond. Do not let his
barking control your reactions.

How do I go About Preparing an Easy Meal?
Preparing a meal isn't really a chore. All you need is
proper planning. And also you need to remember that
cooking is an art, you can easily prepare gourmets
for the family. Moreover, there are so many simple
recipes available for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
Have a folder dedicated to these recipes, make a list
and swap your menu accordingly.
Some helpful tips:
1. Plan your weekly menu ahead of time, do the necessary
grocery shopping.
2. Stock up all the basics that you'll need for the whole
week, buy some extras as well. You never know when a guest
might land. Have adequate quantities of vegetables, fresh
fruits, rice, whole grains, bread, pita bread, brown rice
and pasta, yogurt, milk, cheese, fish, lean meat, poultry,
beans, eggs, lentils, seeds and nuts. You'll also need some
essential spices to prepare a meal, stock up those as well.
3. Store the raw materials on the basis of your planned menu.
That will save you some time.
4. Have some quick to serve recipes of salads, toppings etc,
at hand. These are quick snacks, easy to prepare and serve.
5. Have stock of chicken breasts (frozen), they are the main
ingredient of every meal, very easy to cook and everyone loves
chicken. You can just dump it in the oven and get it baked.
6. You can opt for ready-to-eat foods; these are usually
frozen and canned. Not all of us prefer canned food, it
depends actually. If there's no time absolutely, then
only one might use these canned food. You get everything
in frozen form, from veggies to fruits, salad greens,
salmon, beans and meat.
7. You can always store cooked food in advance, that
save time and gives you space as well. If you are cooking
rice tonight, cook double meals. The leftovers can be used
the next day. Always cook twice the amount that will help
you prepare different meals every day, with same ingredients;
just a slight swapping is needed.
8. Baking is easier and even quicker. Moreover, you won't
need to clean up piles of dishes.
9. Do the dough making business all at once and refrigerate.
You can also store soups and stews in batches.
10. Always cut the fresh vegetables in advance; it takes a
lot of time. Veggies are very healthy and you must include
it in your diet. Avoid these hassles when you are cooking.
Always cut the vegetables and freeze.
11. You can use a slow cooker for cooking healthy and
nutritious meals. You can place the ingredients that need
to be cooked just before leaving home, once you are back,
your meal is ready. Recipes for slow cooker can also be availed.
Are you doubtful? Can cooking really be so easy? Yes of course,
if you plan well and maintain it, it can be very easy to serve
the family a nutritious and healthy meal. Cooked food is far
better than the canned ones, follow the above mentioned tips
and you will be doing a great job. I have been using this method for
a very long time and let me just say planning saves money and
my time.

Creating Healthy School Lunches For Kids
One of the issues moms face as they send their kids
back to school is preparing lunches. Not only are
they concerned with preparing food for the kids each
day, but preparing healthy and nutritious lunches!
This can be quite the challenge, especially with
picky youngsters. We all want our kids to eat well
so they can learn well, but how do we create a meal
that's healthy that our kids will actually eat?
Here are a few tips and ideas for doing just that:
Be big on variety. Offer your child lots of options.
This will help them to find something that they like.
Include fruit, bread, a veggie, a protein source, and
a drink. Try to alternate them as well instead of sending
an apple daily, sending an apple one day, an orange the next,
grapes the next and then swap it up. For their drinks,
try a smoothie. These are easy to make and fun to experiment
with.
Get the kids involved. Kids are creative and savvy moms
know they are more likely to eat something they have
chosen for themselves. They can even find fun ways to
package the items to make them more appealing. Let them
use cookie cutters to create playful sandwiches or cuts
of cheese. Have fun together browsing cookbooks and websites
creating new ideas for future lunches. Let them help you
do some of the work in the kitchen preparing their lunch
box for the next day.
These are just a few ways to make healthy lunches that
your child will eat. You'll also feel certain that they
are getting the nutrition they need to stay focused at school.

Crafts For Small Kids
Keeping small children occupied can be a full time job.
Try utilizing crafts and creative play time to encourage
recreational learning while keeping them entertained.
Whether it’s one child alone or an entire group to keep
busy, there are more things to get kids started in crafts
than you’ll be able to choose from. Be sure to try to plan
your activities based on the average age of the children.
It will make the process much easier for everyone involved.
Paper plates have been a great craft accessory for years. Most
of us can recall using them as children in school to make great
things like masks or giant flowers. Supply kids with a stack
of plates and additional decorative items like pipe cleaner,
glue and markers. It’s always fun to see what children will
come up with when set loose with a stack of great materials
and their imagination.
A safe and easy craft that kids tend to find fascinating is
origami. There are many levels of origami from the incredibly
simple to the advanced type of folding. Purchase gift wrap
from a craft store or local big box store. It’s fun to let
kids pick out the wrapping paper that they like. Even the
local dollar or liquidation store will have plenty at a low
price. Easy beginner origami can be found online with no trouble.
Get involved by learning with your children as you go.
Make use of those old egg cartons by giving them to the
kids for crafts. An egg carton caterpillar is fun to create.
Cut the egg carton so that there is an entire row of egg
slots to form the caterpillar body. Use pipe cleaner for
antenna and then go crazy decorating the body however you like.
This is a great one for younger kids since it involves little
cutting. Be sure to always supervise and assist small children
with the use of scissors.
The options are virtually endless for crafts that are perfectly
suited to smaller kids. Get them involved in reading by having
them create their very own bookmarks. Use sturdy construction
paper cut rectangular then let them do the rest with glitter,
paint or beads. Have them make one in the style or theme of
their favourite story. Pencil holders are also great and
related to reading and writing. Decorate a can or wooden
container tall enough to hold pencils. There really is no limit
to what you can do.
It’s important to prevent kids from developing extreme tendencies
for electronics and TV. While those things are fine in moderation,
it’s necessary to keep the brain active and stimulated. Crafts
for kids are both fun and results in some pretty neat stuff.

Cheap Meal Ideas – 3 Alternatives to Fast Food
Society today is very tired and overworked. Everyone
is busy and running at a fast pace each day. It does
not matter what the reason is for the hectic pace of
your lifestyle, your time is precious and needs to be
managed effectively. You need cheap meal ideas to help
you stretch your time and money while still providing
a wholesome and nutritious dinner for you and your family.
The fast food makers know how little time we have and use
this very thing to make themselves successful. The idea of
coming home after a long day at work and cooking for four
or five people is not something we tend to look forward
to on top of preparing for the next day and trying to get
the homework done. This is why they offer you cheap meal
ideas that require no cleaning, no cooking, and only 25
minutes to pick up.
The first cheap meal idea includes meat, vegetables, and
pasta or rice all in one dish. To make a quick stir fry,
begin with some thin slices of meat. Beef is good and
chicken will also work. Add a modest amount of soy sauce
to the meat. Cook until done completely. In the same pan,
add a bag of stir fry vegetables to the mix. Add a cup of
water to the mix as the vegetables are heating to make a
sauce of sorts. While the meat and vegetables are cooking,
get out a bag or two of the boil in bag rice. Let this cook
as the rest is heating. When the rice is complete, put a
helping on each plate and cover with the stir fry vegetables
and meat. Not only is this a cheap meal idea, it is also fast;
it can be made in only 20 minutes.
You can whip up a hearty batch of pancakes and scrambled eggs
for the family in about 30 minutes or less. If you think it is
strange to eat breakfast food for dinner, consider how these
same foods give you what you need to go through an entire day.
Another one of the cheap meal ideas to try is a simple macaroni
and cheese with meat dish. The ground beef or turkey only takes
20 minutes to cook through and the macaroni and cheese can be
finished before the meat is. For an added flavor, add one small
can of tomato sauce for a tomato macaroni dish.
When you fix one of these or other cheap meal ideas at home,
you are taking time out of your busy day to treat yourself and
your family special.

Holiday Craft Ideas
There is rarely a better time for doing crafts than
the holiday season. In fact, any holiday is perfect
for craft making, it doesn’t matter which it is. The
holidays can be used as your inspiration and motivation
for getting creative, especially when it comes to gift
giving. There is virtually no end to the things you can
produce with the right materials and ideas.
Holidays are fun for so many reasons. From painting
Easter eggs to making your very own Christmas ornaments,
the holidays are wonderful for bringing out the kid in
everyone. It doesn’t take much to get creative. Start
with the right materials and don’t allow yourself to be
limited.

Crazy Fun Crafts
Crafts can get a little bit boring when you always do
the same thing over and over again. Kids and adults
both get bored easy when not being entertained any
longer. Try breaking out of the craft blues by expanding
your search to something new and maybe a little bit crazy.
There are some crazy crafts out there that also become
a useful household item. It doesn’t take as much as you’d
assume. If you have the time and the interest, these
items are just a few steps away.
You can make T-shirts at home with your own unique design.
Also there are different types of sticker paper that you
can make with a printer. So start making your own stickers
at home. This is a great idea for scrap booking to.
Statues may not be something we all are inclined to make.
However, you can buy statues already made but not painted.
This leaves the hand painting of the piece up to you. There
is no better way to have something original like a scaled
dragon or howling wolf done exactly how you want it. The
best part is that when you are finished you have a wonderful
décor piece to place within your home. Don’t hesitate to
give these as gifts. Anyone that receives one will be
impressed with your handy work.
Even a basic object like a mirror can be the ultimate
craft item. There is no end to the ways you can decorate
a mirror. Create a border using feathers or even something
like iron. Use lettering to spell your name or initials
along the bottom. In just a few minutes a regular mirror
can be doubled in value simply because you added some
accents on to it. This works just as well with candelabra
and candle holders.
A touch of design can add a whole new look to something
that’s just been sitting around the house. Go beyond the
regular and the boring.
